Forest
A 1930s apartment in Forest, full of potential but frozen in time.
A young couple gave us a crystal-clear brief: open up the space, bring in light, and enhance what already existed, while starting from scratch in terms of comfort.
We redid everything from A to Z. Opened up the bay windows and removed partitions to connect the kitchen and living room. Materials were carefully restored: the original parquet was sanded and oiled, the fireplace mantel preserved, and custom bookcases and lower cabinets painted in a deep green flowing from one room to the next (and, of course, housing a turntable & vinyl records).
The new kitchen follows a clean, simple line: white fronts, a mineral worktop, and wooden shelves for everyday use. In the bathroom, a large shower tray, a minimalist screen, and speckled terrazzo; black fittings provide the perfect contrast. Electrical work, paint, fittings — everything was brought back into alignment.
Result: a 1930s apartment that breathes again — bright, functional, and full of life. The apartment is unrecognizable… and at the same time, it feels as though it was always meant to be this way.
